I have been staying for the week with dear friends of my mum who kindly offered to look after my daughter so I could have some time to work on this. It has been such a nourishing week and I have been researching grief practices from Ireland and West Africa, both places I have spent time in. The research was most productive! I wrote an acappella song about death inspired by a Congolese transition/funeral song and also some wordless vocal music with piano accompaniment inspired by the Irish tradition of Keening.
